Affirmations for Sticking to your Goals
If you’ve ever found yourself setting a goal and retracting after a few steps, you’re not alone. A lot of people have a hard time turning over a new leaf or reaching their goals when they become frustrated or get lazy at one point on the path to it. Some give up altogether, while others are trapped in an endless cycle of starting and quitting all over again. However, if you are bent to finally achieve that goal or objective this time around, maybe the key lies in the motivation you have for achieving it.
Envisioning the goal and the benefits you can get from it may not be enough to drive you towards your goal. You need some psyching up, not from a life coach, but from words that embody the goal you have in mind. Affirmations are just one of the ways in which you can motivate yourself to stick to your plan and achieve your goals. As long as it addresses your specific problem or objective, these motivational phrases can surely be the driving force behind your success.
Tips in getting motivated when trying to reach goals
However, you must have that drive to accomplish your goal. In order to kick start whatever plan or procedure you’re planning to do to achieve your goals, here are just a few pointers on how to succeed this time around.
1) Rethink the reasons for your goals.
Goals can be easy or hard to achieve, depending on the importance they have for you. Say you want to lose some of the pounds and extra flabs that you have. The reason behind your goal of losing weight can affect how you can fulfill it. Instead of saying “I need to fit into those skinny jeans,” it might be more prudent and effective to say “I will live a fit and healthy lifestyle” to achieve your goal.
2) Branch out and think about the what-ifs.
After setting your goals, you should also think about what would happen if you skip on one step or ultimately stop going for it. Word your affirmations around this like “I refuse to succumb to heart disease at age forty” or something along that line. Though “negative” words may be a no-no for affirmation, if used properly, these can have the desired effect on you.
3) Stick to it.
Even if you say you will go through the whole process this time, there will be some moments when your resolve can be weakened. If you really want to achieve your goals, then you should really set your mind to accomplishing the task you have set.
