A little positive thinking can go a long way in boosting your morale.  Affirmations are just one of the many ways in which you can psych yourself up to conquer your fears, insecurities, and anxieties.  These simple statements are the best tools to start your day with or can be used as effective pick-you-ups whenever your determination falters.  However, affirmations are actually very hard to make as you have to consider the effectiveness of each statement.  Even the use of words of “negation” such as can not or will not in affirmations are questioned.  So how does one actually make an effective set of affirmative phrases?

Creating your own phrases filled with positivity

There are many different ways of creating a set of affirmative phrases as  each person knows what works and what doesn’t.  Effectiveness isn’t based  on an affirmation’s popularity or the number of people who swear by it, but by how it worked for one.  Affirmations are tools that should empower the individual, letting him or her get ready to face up to the different challenges of life.  Some people may go for one phrase or mantra that works for all their challenges, while there are others who go the extra mile to identify the different hurdles and device specific affirmations for each.

Effective statements

Affirmations can be more effective if they are geared towards a specific hurdle or objective.  If, for example, you want to address your body image and your feelings towards it, you can stand by the affirmation of loving your own body and feeling comfortable in your own skin.  To boost courage, you can repeat a saying that defines how fear cannot harm you unless you let it.  A simple thank you to the powers that be can also be an affirmation of gratitude for blessings that have come to you.  No matter what hurdle or challenge you might want to overcome, affirmations can help you get your bearings and give you a positive outlook on the task at hand.
